Sara
Sara, like owl, is a shorter scale dulcimer than the ones I usually build, it being 23 5/16" from bridge to nut. It's strung heavier to enable it to be tuned Dadd. This instrument is equipped with a Fishman ukulele transducer pickup built into the slightly oversize banjo bridge so as to make it an acoustic electric. It's top is spruce and it's back and sides are figured maple with a black plastic binding. The neck is my standard recycled walnut with maple stripe neck thru with a moradillo fretboard. The inlay is mother of pearl. The painting on the back is of the owner's mother, also the namesake for the instrument. The orange paint is nitrocellulose lacquer with a satin top coat.
