MelTone
MelTone is a tribute to Mel Kern commissioned by his brother Peter. It's a copy of Texan, but as a DGbe tuned 23" scale tenor guitar. It's body is quartersawn zebrawood on the top and flatsawn on the back with a large portion of the interior space routed out for weight savings. It's pickguard is wenge with epoxy protecting a pearl and enamel portrait of Mel. The figured maple neck thru has stripes of walnut bordering zebrawood endgrain as a skunk stripe. The headstock is a modified version of my standard one, a sort of "half a headstock" with a Fender looking belly. The tuners are Gotohs, the nut is bone and the trussrod is a Martin style single action. The bridge is cut from aluminum billet, drilled, polished and fitted with vintage style saddles.
