Invicta
Invicta is a guitar with a story behind it. I built it for a friend of mine as a studio guitar. It has two single coil sized humbuckers that I custom wound just for this purpose and then built housings that made them look like a "Made in Japan" guitar from the sixties. They are fairly clean pickups setup the way they are for use with a certain set of effects. The neck is walnut and maple and the fretboard is some odd sort of rosewood. The outer body is aluminum for entirely practical reasons. Unlike paint, aluminum will not chip, and since it was going to be subject to hard use, it seemed like a good idea. Also it looked pretty neat. The outer frame, by the way, is just hooked on with big stainless steel screws, as I do not have a TIG welder. Worked pretty well though. I rebuilt this original version of Invicta completely just recently to make it fit into my newer design ideals, but it still has most of the original parts. The paint is translucent green over flame maple and poplar. I named it Invicta because it reminds me of a 1959 Buick, for some reason.
