Impaler
Impaler is a fairly vicious guitar. It's a a stretched out Virgin style body made of korina with a wenge and bubinga neck thru. The translucent red lacquer is over the entire body and feathers out on the back of the neck so that the finish on the back of the neck is quite thin. This is because wenge has a unique texture that's traditionally scraped and oiled and it would be a shame to over finish it.

The fretboard is redheart with ten unluckily impaled people in various states inlaid in mother of pearl. Originally I had planned to do fairly realistic impaled people, but it was a bit much, really, so I copied the impaled people from one of the famous engravings of Vlad's questionable deeds, so they're a little more cartoonish. I actually stole the idea. Someone wanted this inlay on one of my Reavers that never got built, but the idea stuck with me.

Vlad the Impaler is depicted on a carved three ply pickguard with red pearloid inlaid eyes and jewel in his crown. If you don't know his father was Vlad Dracul, but Dracula was based on the legends about Vlad the Impaler. So this, I suppose, is the king of the vampires himself.

The pickup is an EMG-81, it has a roller bridge, dual action trussrod, Planet Waves locking tuners and a Graph-tech nut.
